The first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World has teased the introduction of the Red Hulk into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The trailer below features Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Carl Lumpley as Isaiah Bradley, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Stearns/Leader, and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
But the sight of the Red Hulk at the end of the trailer is sure to set fans’ tongues wagging as to what this means for the film and the MCU going forward.
The trailer sets up the story, which begins with Thaddeus Ross calling Sam Wilson with a proposal: make Captain America an official tool of the US military. It’s clear that doesn’t sit well with Sam as the other players, including the Leader, have a say in world events. There’s also plenty of action, as Sam shows off his newfound flying powers. Thaddeus Rose has some kind words for Sam at one point, pointing out that he’s no Steve Rogers. Sam agrees.
Then, at the end of the trailer, we see the Red Hulk grab Captain America’s famous shield and slam it into the ground. It looks like Sam will end up in a fight with the Red Hulk, and it feels like it’s going to be a one-sided battle, but Marvel has a lot to fall back on.
Leaks indicated that Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross was to be transformed into a much larger, more CG monster, which this trailer now confirms. Captain America: Brave New World may be based on various Hulk comic storylines that ran between 2008 and 2010, many of which featured the Red Hulk prominently. Some fans have even gone so far as to speculate that this could secretly be a Hulk movie or Mark Ruffalo’s swan song in the MCU.
Marvel also released the first poster for Captain America: Brave New World, which hits theaters on February 14, 2025. See below:
The trailer also confirms that Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito is in the film. In May, reports indicated Captain America: Brave New World was reshoots to help introduce Esposito’s new character, the alleged villain, into the fold.
The actor had In the past he expressed interest in playing X-Men leader Professor XavierBut he confirmed that he will stay until May Officially joins the MCU in a mysterious role. Esposito even went so far as to say it was “better than you can imagine” when speaking to fans, and later confirmed it. Her character would go on to get her own TV series.
