Rubio, Colleagues: “Dictator Nicolás Maduro Stole Another Presidential Election”

July 29, 2024 | News releases

Yesterday, the Venezuelan people voted in an election that was dubious, free and fair from the start.

US Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), John F. Kennedy (R-LA), Michael Bennett (D-CO), Peter Welch (D-VT), Rick Scott (R-FL), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), John Cornyn (R-TX), Tim Scott (R-SC) and U.S. Reps. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Jennifer Gonzalez-Colon (R-PR), Maria Elvira Salazar (R- FL), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Chris Smith (R-NJ), Mario Diaz-Ballard (R-FL), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) issued a joint statement after the criminal and illegal Maduro. The narco regime claimed victory in this fake presidential election:

  • “To no one’s surprise, dictator Nicolás Maduro has stolen yet another presidential election. However, the narco-regime will never steal the will of the Venezuelan people to return to democracy and live freely after decades of tyranny. We must prioritize uniting the free world in rejecting these fraudulent election results and securing the release of the more than 300 Venezuelans arbitrarily held in torture centers as political prisoners.
  • “The Maduro dictatorship is experiencing an internal breakdown, and the members of the dictatorship know that their status quo, fueled by their own incompetence, can no longer last. There is widespread discontent in the streets of Venezuela, and everyday citizens are standing up for opposition leaders María Corina Machado and Edmundo González. No doubt: imagination. The countries and international organizations that support this fraud beyond measure must be held accountable, as well as the narco-regime and its ‘National Electoral Council’ members.
