As the third appetizer for the 17-course meal that will be the Eagles’ regular season in 2023, it’s time to talk about a big meal.
Oh, sure every game carries the same amount of weight in the NFL regular season — they’re all very important, understandably — but this is another one in a nationally televised slot and a first we know for the Eagles. It happens in prime time.
Eagles on Monday, November 20 from 8:15 p.m. Get your popcorn ready.
It was a rematch of Super Bowl LVII on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, where the Chiefs won 37–34. And it’s a game featuring two teams with aspirations of meeting in Las Vegas in Super Bowl LVIII. Months of regular season play.
It needs very little hype because we all know how good leaders are and what they bring to the table. It all starts with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who played through an ankle injury in the Super Bowl and won Most Valuable Player honors for leading Kansas City from a 10-point halftime deficit to victory. Kansas City’s offense is versatile and potent, relying on Mahomes and his leading receiver, tight end Travis Kelce, with a large offensive line and a variety of weapons.
Philadelphia and the Chiefs match up very well, and both teams have had strong seasons, which is why the NFL wants to put this game early in the holiday season — the Monday before Thanksgiving. It was one of the most-watched prime-time games, with two high-scoring teams aiming to play for the third time in a calendar year. First things first, though: The Eagles will have a tough task at Arrowhead Stadium late in the season against the reigning Super Bowl champions.
The anticipation is astounding.
So, here’s what we know about the Eagles’ 2023 regular season: They play in Kansas City on Nov. 20 in a Monday Night Football showcase game. They host San Francisco on Sunday, December 3rd at Lincoln Financial Field in a 4:25pm kickoff. They host the New York Giants on Monday, December 25 (Christmas Day) at 4:30 p.m. That’s one heck of a stretch, with the Eagles facing three playoff (and beyond) caliber teams over the course of the season.
The entire 2023 Eagles regular season schedule will be released tonight at 8 p.m.
