A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for parts of North Texas, including Dallas, until Wednesday

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Dallas County and the rest of North Texas beginning Monday afternoon and ending Wednesday morning.

According to the weather service, a warning is issued when significant weather such as snow, ice, sleet or a combination of these is expected. Travel is always difficult during warnings, according to the weather service.

The most significant impacts are expected on Tuesday.

A Sunday was chilly across the region Bringing in some wind and dropping temperatures, paving the way for an even cooler week. According to the National Weather Service’s forecast for Sunday, freezing rain is possible on Monday and Tuesday, followed by rain every day through Thursday.

The forecast doesn’t call for snow, but temperatures are expected to be in the 30s early in the week, before warming into the 40s Wednesday and eventually into the 50s by the weekend.

According to the weather service, most of the impacts of cold weather and freezing rain are expected to affect areas northwest of the metroplex.

Monday

Slight chance of freezing rain this morning, then freezing, sleet and rain this afternoon. Very light snow showers are possible. Snow accumulation in the few hundredths of an inch. Cooler in the low 30s. North wind 10 to 15 mph. 40% chance of rain. The wind chill value is as low as 17.

Monday night

Cloudy with a 50% chance of freezing rain and drizzle. Snow is not expected. Snow accumulation up to one-tenth of an inch. Lows in the upper 20s. North wind at 10 mph.

tuesday

Freezing rain and drizzle. Sleet accumulation dust or very light. Snow accumulation of less than two-tenths of an inch. Highs in the low 30s. North wind 10 to 15 mph. A near 100% chance of showers. The wind chill value is as low as 18.

Tuesday night

Freezing rain. A chance of showers in the evening, then showers after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation. As low as 30. North wind 5 to 10 mph. 90% chance of rain.

Wednesday

Freezing rain with drizzle in the morning and rain in the afternoon. Little or no snow accumulation. Maximum above 30 years. North wind 5 to 10 mph. 90% chance of rain. Lows in the mid 30s with overnight showers. 100% chance of rain.

Thursday

Cloudy with a 50% chance of rain. Highest in people above 40 years and lowest in below 30 years.

Friday

The sun is expected to break through the clouds and raise the temperature back up to near 52. Lows will drop below freezing Friday night.

Saturday

The sun should be near 55 all day.
