Riley Strain Updates: Missing Missouri student's bank card found on Nashville riverbank

Missing University of Missouri student Riley Strain's bank card has been recovered near the Cumberland River in Nashville more than a week after the college senior disappeared.

“Riley Strain's bank card was found this afternoon on the bank between K St. and the Cumberland River,” the Metro Nashville Police Department wrote in a March 17 p.m. X.

Officials added that the search for him is on.

Mr Strain, 22, was last seen at a bar in Nashville – as part of a trip with his fraternity – on March 8.

Security officials told him to leave, prompting an investigation into whether he was overpowered. However, on March 15, the bar owners said he was offered one drink and two waters before being escorted out.

“None of Riley's party members were required to be inside the arena to close any open tabs, and no one from Luke's 32 bridge crew prevented anyone from Riley's party from leaving the venue with him,” the owners wrote.

While there is no college-organized trip, Mizzou officials said they are working with Nashville officials and Riley's family.

“The safety of our community is our highest priority,” said Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Angela King Taylor. Report.

“Our thoughts are with Riley's family as the search continues. We will offer them any support we can and we encourage anyone who needs help to access our advice resources.

Those resources are available in the College's Health Resource Center and Counseling Center in the Division of Student Affairs, as well as in the Employee Assistance Program for faculty and staff.

University of Missouri graduate Riley Strain, who went missing after being allegedly kicked out of a Nashville bar, was only offered one drink before being escorted out, bar owners said.

The 22-year-old student was partying with friends at Luke Bryan's 32 Bridge food + drink bar just before 10pm on March 8.

The owner of the bar, TC Restaurant Group, said Mr Strain was offered a drink and two waters before he was asked to leave, dispelling the theory that he had been overused.

“No member of Riley's party was required to be inside the arena to close any open tabs, and no one from Luke's 32 Bridge team prevented anyone from Riley's party from leaving the venue with him,” the owners added.

Mr. Strain and his fraternity brothers were reportedly on a trip to Nashville for a spring formal.

The news comes days after the Tennessee Liquor Commission announced on March 13 that it was investigating whether or not Mr. Strain was served alcohol while intoxicated at the bar.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department says its officers are searching for Riley.

An MNPD helicopter searched the downtown area Monday “including along the riverfront,” while detectives also searched on the ground.

When Riley went missing, her friends said they spent hours searching for her, while her mother and stepfather joined the search in recent days.

On Wednesday night, boats searched the Cumberland River for the strain as detectives focused on reviewing security video. Riley's phone was last tracked near Public Square Park on the banks of the Cumberland River.

“The sad part of this situation is every day we're getting new routes and going down different routes,” Mr Dingman told WSMV4.

“We're going to get there, but it also opens more doors to what could have happened.”

Riley's parents have also arrived in Nashville to help with search efforts.

“It's definitely a worst nightmare,” Strain's stepfather Chris Whited told News 2. “Riley talks to us, whether it's me or his mom. He talks to mom three or four times a day. For him to go that long without talking is by no means normal.

On March 16, it had been a week since Mr. Strain was last seen, and Mr. Whitehead told NBC News that he and his wife were “continuing to search.”

“We're very optimistic, we're moving forward, he's coming home, we're graduating in May, life is going on as normal,” he added.

The hunt for Riley Strain has now lasted more than a week — and the search for him continues, officials said on March 17.

Here are some of the latest developments:

On the afternoon of March 14, police said there were currently no signs of foul play in Riley's disappearance, but that investigations by water and air would continue.

“In a missing person case, people go missing for a variety of reasons,” said Metro Nashville Police Sergeant Bob Nielsen. Some are voluntary, some are not. May be due to some medical incident.

“At this time, we do not know what happened to this man. However, we do not believe there was any foul play involved. All of our resources are currently dedicated to locating him,” added police Sgt.

Although the Tennessee Liquor Commission announced on March 13 that it was investigating whether Mr. Strain had overdosed at the bar, bar owners said on March 15 that the college senior was offered only one drink and two waters before being escorted out.

“None of Riley's party members were required to be inside the arena to close open tabs, and no one from Luke's 32 Bridge team prevented anyone from Riley's party from leaving the venue with him,” the owners said in a statement.

On Thursday, an urban search and rescue team continued to search the brush line along the Cumberland River, checking storm drains and looking at damaged buildings.

However at a police briefing later that afternoon — nearly a week after the University of Missouri sophomore went missing — police said there was still no sign of the 22-year-old.

Last Friday, the college student was on a fraternity trip to Nashville, Tennessee, and was separated from his friends after he was kicked out of Bryan's 32Bridge bar – owned by country singer Luke Bryan.
